Vermont Voyageurs fall in series finale with Ottawa

Opening weekend for semi-pro box lacrosse. Five on five, hard hitting, fast pace lacrosse played indoors. Ottawa Axemen traveling to take on the Vermont Voyageurs. Brandon Dube bounces one in to open the scoring for the home team. Back come the Axemen, Davey Hallet blows by the defense, takes it towards net, and buries the bouncer: 1-1. Later in the period, Jordan Joncas finds a lane in front, fakes out the keeper to give the visitors a 3-1 lead. Closing minutes of the 1st, Dube intercepts a pass, his first shot is blocked, but former UVM Catamount and current Milton lax coach Trevor Wagar does the dirty work inside.. But it would not be enough to top the rivals from the north. The Voyageurs fall 11-9, losing by a combined 3.
